In Greenwich during wintertime when my internal speedometer slowed down I wrote these recollections. It was an exercise with a foreign language and a desire to emerge from the gloomy season. I had no idea then that I would publish it one day. In Florence, my native city, I met David who was studying art in the traditional classical style with two great teachers: Pietro Annigoni and Nerina Simi. David painted many views of Florence, the city that meant so much to him. Our love story was part of that scenic background of green cypresses among low red tiled roofs, and below, the Arno River reflected God's nature and the Florentine's work.
