Elite athletes often experience a time of self-doubt because of circumstances beyond their control such as injury or corrupt coaches. Nineteen-year-old Lia Erickson must decide whether to return to the US Olympic Ski Team after a devasting accident or remain in college protesting the Vietnam War in 1971. With the support of strong mentors, she finds the answer while exploring Washington, D.C., the mountains of Vermont, the Wind River Range, UC Berkeley, and back to the Sierra Nevadas.
