Jake takes Bay and Dodger to the park. It is Bay's first experience with deep snow. Bay sees a white fox there and later, at home, he and Jake befriend the wild animal and name it Snowball. Not telling his parents, Jake builds a hidden food den behind a tree near home. On the way to visiting Snowballs den, she is snared by an animal trap. Bay must protect the fox while Jake runs for help. The fox is rescued and recovers at an animal shelter. Bay learns wild animals are different from pets, but friendships are forever.
