I have never been someone who was quick to begin something I had a desire to do or wanted to achieve. I'm not sure if it was because I didn't know how to begin or I didn't have confidence - maybe I was just procrastinating. I think it was all three when it came to the book, I said I wanted to write.
Even though I had many ideas, I had to choose a topic that would attract many readers who would want to read my book, so it had to be more than just a good idea. It had to be God's, so I put my book on the "shelf" and forget about it for a while.
One day, the Holy Spirit prompted me to begin writing a daily Facebook post entitled, "Be Aware." After reviewing the posts, comments, and opinions of others, I wanted to put something on social media that might actually help or bless people on a daily basis. It began small with just a line or two and over three years grew into a devotion. My writing had to be consistent and through my obedience and with the help of the Holy Spirit, a book was born.
The older I get, I realize the eternal importance of passing along wisdom to the next generation as stated in Psalm 71:18 AMPC, "Yes, even when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not. (but keep me alive) until I have declared Your mighty strength to (this) generation, and Your mighty strength to (this) generation, and Your might and power to all that are to come."
I am so grateful for those who went before me, who took the time to impart their wisdom to me. It became part of the foundation upon which I have built my life, my marriage, my family, and my church and upon which I continue to stand today during a time of difficult transition with Mike's home going.
Generational Wisdom is an anchor during the storm. It's the sail on my boat that I position with the rudder of God's Word and my wisdom-filled tongue to ensure I reach my destination without shipwrecking. It ensures I leave a legacy.
