In the summer of 1953 twenty year old Paula Stevens struggles to rebuild her self confidence after enduring a sexual assault the previous year. Working at a summer resort in Northern Ohio, Paula's co-worker, Lois, helps rebuild her confidence. Paula finds love and renewed self esteem, but Lois and her two other friends do not fare as well.
