Tennis pro at eighteen, Gabe O’Neill entered all the big tournaments and beat some of the top names in the game. Now thirty-one and content to give lessons to wealthy patrons on Longboat Key, he had it made- a man in control of his own destiny. Life on his own terms meant gorgeous women, the beach as a back yard, tennis, and no worries. Romantic relationships were temporary. Family was an afterthought. Living life on a day to day basis suited him just fine. Occasionally, he thought to give thanks, but mostly he was proud of the life he’d made for himself. But, harsh reality – in the form of trafficked human beings – entered his carefully constructed life. Face-to-face with illness, brutality, and murder, his stubborn belief that he was in control of his ‘perfect life’ was shattered.
